Keuda Vocational College
The school district of Central Uusimaa, Keuda, offers young people and adults workplace-oriented training and development services to support regional success. Keuda has about 5,500 students and a staff of just over 500. The district is owned by Kuuma municipalities (Järvenpää, Kerava, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi, Pornainen, Tuusula) and Sipoo. Keuda has ten teaching locations and apprenticeship training centres in its owner municipalities. Keuda’s intended future role is to be one of the most well-known and sought-after education specialists in the region, a strong partner and strong workforce developer.
Why did we get the IMS operating system?
The impetus to acquire an electronic operating system was given by a national vocational education and training quality recommendation. The recommendation was that training providers move to use an electronic operating system. Keuda was built separately from the other schools which over the years have come within the same district. The spectrum of practices and operating procedures was wide, which was not possible to maintain anymore under the same roof. Keuda was missing the tools, however, which would have described its entire district activities and displayed indicator results for all to see.
"The IMS operating system was selected after benchmarking other actors in the same area who had good experiences with using IMS," says Keuda planning director Tiina Halmevuo.
”The system's construction was surprisingly easy”
At Keuda, the construction of the new operating system was started with enthusiasm and anticipation even though the schedule was tight. According to Halmevuo, the workshop days, IMS Business Solutions Oy’s support and the enthusiasm of staff during the entire project made it possible to complete construction during one spring. In particular, the ease and use of describing processes was already evident during the construction process.
Continuous development
The IMS system will be introduced for use by the whole staff in autumn 2010 when the current process descriptions, operations manuals, documents and indicators will be available. The entire staff can see and use the system.”Transparency of activity is a big thing for us and with IMS anyone will be able to get an idea of how things are done," says Halmevuo.
