Compiling manuals

Manuals are handbooks consisting of several hierarchical chapters. It is possible to create chapters and subchapter in the manuals. Compiling and writing manuals takes place in IMS Integrated Management System Software with a help of multifunctional text editor application. The chapters of manuals are reviewed and approved in similar fashion as the organization’s documents in IMS Integrated Management System Software. Versions which are not approved can be reviewed (possible by several users) and afterwards approved to enable viewer users to see the chapters.

Regular users with viewing rights are only able to see the approved version of manual and the approved chapters. When an approved manual is edited, a new version is created in similar fashion as when a document is edited. The separate versioning of different chapters ensures that editing of a chapter does not effect on the wholeness of manual viewed by users, before the edited chapter is approved. Manuals can be printed in PDF –files, containing a front page and all the approved chapters.

It is possible to link other content from IMS Integrated Management System Software in the manuals. For example, a process flowchart or an indicator can be imported as picture in the chapter.

If IMS Integrated Management System Software is used to depict processes exceeding the boundaries of the organization, partners, external auditors or other core stakeholders can be granted with user names to access the system. This enhances the management of the external resources.
